Summer 2023 Newsletter

Stevie and Finn frolicking in the water at North Beach

Happy end of summer, animal lover!

You are receiving this newsletter because you either are a current Happy Paws Inn & Resort client or hopefully a future one, having contacted me to inquire about my pet sitting services in the past. If you don’t want to hear from me, unsubscribe below.

With this newsletter, I want to celebrate the lives of three wonderful dogs that recently passed, let you know about the idea to offer Pet First Aid course locally to be prepared for emergencies, a new pet sitter group to help with increasing demand, two new features I am offering, updates about my availability and prices, and show off a big deal acknowledgment!

Two new fun features at Happy Paws Inn and Resort: A pool to keep those water-loving doggies cool and an in-door camera to check on them.

I am almost booked for the year but hope to fill the openings below, and I take bookings for 2024 now. I wish I could take more last minute requests! I am open:

  • September 13-18
  • November 8-11
  • November 17- December 4
  • Open after December 20

I have started to take a second, and rarely a third dog, when the dogs are social and enjoy company, and it’s 100% safe. I also started to charge $90/day for dogs that require to be kept alone. Most often I have only one dog, it’s my preference, but often there is a bit of overlap during their stay. If that’s not possible, I hope you understand that I have to increase my rate for those very special dogs. I don’t offer cash discounts anymore, but am still able to offer volume discounts. I hope to offer day care in the future if I can shift to 100% remote work. I still work outside the house daily from 2-5pm, so day care just doesn’t seem fair to day care clients.

Because I often have to send people away as I am at capacity, I created an email-list for other pet sitters on the Olympic Peninsula so that we can share client inquiries and collaborate. I am not sure yet if it’s working or not, but have found it helpful to network with other local pet care professionals. That is also how I met Theresa Berrett from Creature Comforts, who runs the only cat hotel in town, and who is interested in offering pet first aid courses in the future.

Vielen herzlichen Dank, woof, slobber, and purr,
Claudia Zysk
